the right time, place, events and people for it all to happen. When I was young, I always enjoyed art classes, drawing
and painting pictures of ducks with dreams of being famous someday like those I admired who already were. There
was a unique style of abstract drawings I did during my high school years though, that seemed to draw attention of
others. Abstract simply means, "it does not exist in reality". (What that means to me is that nobody else has done it
either).
I was doing a little art here and there, drawings, paintings, wood burnings, mostly as gifts for family. Then what seems
like half a lifetime goes by and I see one of those cable television shows where they build custom motorcycles.
Behind all the hype those shows have, they were creating some very radical designs using metal, plasma cutters,
welders, grinders, etc., but most importantly they were creating unique one of a kinds. I knew some of the tools and
materials they were using would work for turning my abstract designs on paper into three dimensional metal
sculptures. When I won a national sales contest in the spring of 2005, I invested the prize money in those tools and
materials to get started. I've been making sparks ever since.
