The Original Plan
Below are a few progression shots of the Plan, the Process and the Results of a commission
project.  Though not typical of my abstract work, I felt compelled to take on the challenge.  It
was a lot of hard work, but the results at the end were very rewarding.  See more details below.

Standing Guard
This project took 5 - 4 x 8 sheets of (1/16") 14 gauge steel, weighed approximately 425 lbs. and
stood 8'8" tall at the tip of the antlers.   It was a very tight time frame to complete this piece, but
the deadline was met and the customer was very pleased with the results.

A lot of people ask.... how it was ever loaded?  The casters you see against my shop wall were
mounted to a sheet of plywood and wheeled down the driveway like a moose on a giant
skateboard to my waiting truck backed into the ditch.  This allowed my friend and I the ability to
slide it into the bed of the truck on pieces of cardboard and then strap it down for the journey
north.  I look forward to seeing this rust over the next year or two.  The buyer dedicated a nicely
landscaped area for this sculpture.  Everything has its place and having the proper surroundings
for any sculpture is a very important consideration, big or small, indoor or outdoor.  Before I begin
any commission piece I need to have a good understanding of everything relative to where it will
be used.  My sketches serve as a confirmation of this before the first cut or weld is ever made.
